Huis Lesedi – House of Light in the local vernacular: This is the Light we hope to bring to destitute babies rescued from the streets of our local communities. Huis Lesedi is a halfway house for abandoned babies. The number of babies cared for has varied between three and ten at a time since our heart felt desire to get involved in spreading God’s love in this community took shape in 2006. The House initially took in babies as well as toddlers for foster care. Our philosophy changed as we noticed an increase in the need to rescue infants with HIV/AIDS – which lately has become almost 100% curable with early intervention! We aim to put each little one up for adoption in a loving, Christian home whenever reconciliation with the mother fails. Huis Lesedi takes care of newborn babies.
