We provide frontline services to women and girls affected by gender-based violence and multiple disadvantages. We invest in trauma-informed services, approaches and partnerships that reach the most marginalised women and girls to address the inequalities they face and respond to the complex needs that result from their experiences. Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations. In South Africa 1 in every 3 women has experienced physical and sexual violence and abuse across their life course. These women are more likely to face other adverse circumstances in their lives: Evidence tells us that gender responsive, trauma-informed services best meet the needs of those surviving these multiple disadvantages. Through our project, Help-at-your-fingertips®, we offer a 24-hour free SMS service to anyone who has access to a cellphone to access immediate support and linkages to medical care and justice.
