FEATURED CHARITY The Character Company

FEATURED charity of the week:  THE CHARACTER COMPANY.

The Character Company is a long term MENtorship program for young boys growing up with absent fathers and no positive male role models in their lives.  South Africa’s current culture of anxiety and anger that leads to violence and abuse needs to be replaced by a culture of MENtorship.  We cannot continue to blame the South African male for his behaviour if we are not prepared to show our male youth a different way to behave.  It is only through long term, intentional MENtorship that we will guide our young boys to be better men.

The Character Company is hosting the 100 km Cycle with Character event, this Sunday 10 November.

With the current wave of gender-based violence on top of the standard crime, corruption and general lack of accountability in South Africa The Character Company remains one of the few organisations that are actively and intentionally investing in a better future by providing long-term MENtorship to young boys growing up with absent fathers or no positive male role models in their lives.  In a country where it seems to never be “enough”, we are saying ENOUGH!  When it comes to gender-based violence and corruption and crime and destroying communities … we are saying “Not Us!”

This is however not something that they can do alone and they need your help.  On Sunday the 10th of November The Character Company is hosting a 100km with Character event in partnership with Planet Fitness Krugersdorp and Fruit & Veg City at the Cradlestone Mall from 07:30 am.

What they need from you is one of the following actions;

  1. Sign up as a team leader and take responsibility for one of the 40 stationary bikes on that day.  As the team leader, you will be responsible to put a team of up to 10 people together and make sure your bike clocks 100km on the day.  Your team must also raise a minimum of R 100.00 per kilometer – R 10,000.00 in total.

  2. If you are not keen to lead a team but want to take part in the event, please e-mail Gavin at 100.ch@racter.co.za so that he can let you know what teams have spaces open.

  3. Support an existing team by sponsoring someone with R100 p/km, here.

Continue to follow us on FB and keep track of the roll-out of this event.
